Retirement Party!

Yesterday was our 9th Wedding Anniversary and we spent the evening celebrating Greg's mom's retirement. As soon as we got there, our kids were on the dance floor even though the music was of the elevator variety. These are the rocking chairs we chipped in on. Greg's dad is also retiring in a couple of weeks and these should be great for the cabin.

After a while, Zack and Ethan lost interest in dancing and bellied up to the bar to chat with Ike, the bartender. I swear they were there for an hour bending his ear. Emily and Abby joined them later for shots of Sprite.


Nancy had a nice turn out of co-workers and I'm glad the kids were so well behaved considering this was basically an adult party. They played a Phantom of the Opera song in honor of our anniversary so we had a wonderful evening. All the way home, Emily kept telling us, over and over, that she danced with Abby and Grandma.

Little Aqua Man!

Zack started swim lessons last night! He did a great job listening and had no hesitations. I had a heck of a time getting some good pictures between the lighting and trying to keep Emily from stripping down and jumping in. Hopefully, by the end of the session I'll have some other pictures to share.


At the end of class he came stomping over to me complaining that he didn't want to leave! I practically had to drag or bribe him out.

Time Warp Prom!

A local radio station, MIX 98.9 hosts a TimeWarp Prom party and this year we finally went.

We had a blast! All my big hair blends into the curtains behind me. I was very flammable that night.

There were a bunch of great costumes (ZZ Top, the Robert Palmer Girls, Slash & Axel Rose) but this was our favorite and the winner of the costume contest!
The band, Edison's Medicine was great and during their break, they played some of our old favorites.

First trip to the beach this summer!

For our first trip to the beach this summer we went to Lake Milton. We had the place pretty much to ourselves for most of the time. As soon as the kids got close enough to the beach, they raced to the water.

Akron Zoo & Trackside Grill

Greg is on vacation this week so we took a day trip to Akron. Our first stop was the zoo, then we stopped by to see Uncle Adam and finished up the day with a meal at the Trackside Grill.

Outside the Trackside Grill are a couple of trains, one looks like the Polar Express, the other like Thomas the Train and then a real train runs by quite often. Zack could have stayed out there ALL day (and night).

The Trackside Grill has at least 3 vintage passenger cars that you can dine in or around, we had the place pretty much to ourselves and the kids had a ball exploring. Many thanks to Aunt Megan for telling us about this place!

The lawn ranger

Here's Zack with his lawn mowing equipment. He loaded the wheelbarrow and the "grass cutter" in his "trailer" and knocked on the front door asking me if I wanted my yard done.
