Erie Zoo

We made a trip to the Erie Zoo today. It's a nice little zoo, I wish it were a little closer!

Another trip to the Zoo!

We visited the Pittsburgh Zoo again yesterday.
That fish stayed in that spot the whole time we were there.
This isn't the greatest picture but it's the best of the bunch. The zoo has a Sting Ray pool and on the left and against the back wall are tunnels the kids can crawl through, look up and see the Rays above them. Then they can try and touch one while in that corner spot. There weren't any Rays passing by while Zack was there.
This is Greg and Emily in the On Water's Edge section which will be my favorite once it's done. Right now you can see Polar Bears and Sea Lions but they are setting up areas for a Walrus and Sand Sharks.
We finished up our visit with a train ride.

Akron Zoo & Lake Milton Beach

We took a trip to the Akron Zoo last week. We got to check out their new Jellyfish Exhibit. I thought the displays were quite mesmerizing but the kids didn't so I hope to go back again soon to take a closer look.

Part of the Jellyfish exhibit was hands on. Emily is checking out a lobster.

I think it's safe to say the water fountain was Max's favorite part. I really wish I would have had my video camera ready!

After the zoo we took a side trip to my brother's art display at Square Records. I practiced restraint and didn't take pictures of his work (mostly because I thought my mom wouldn't be able to resist!)

Later in the week we went to the beach at Lake Milton. The kids had lots of fun in the sun!

Safari Adventure!

We made a visit to the Wagon Trails Animal Park where we were able to get up close & personal with all kinds of animals. I never thought I'd see the day a Zebra licked my toes!

This Ostrich liked Mason best.
The petting zoo section was also a big hit.

I think Emily is trying to feed them gravel in this picture.

The rest of the day was spent having a short visit with Grandpa, watching the Niles 4th of July parade and taking a quick tour of the local fire station. I can't wait until nap time today!

Akron Zoo & Trackside Grill

Greg is on vacation this week so we took a day trip to Akron. Our first stop was the zoo, then we stopped by to see Uncle Adam and finished up the day with a meal at the Trackside Grill.

Here Zack & Emily are checking out a black rat snake (it's albino).
Outside the Trackside Grill are a couple of trains, one looks like the Polar Express, the other like Thomas the Train and then a real train runs by quite often. Zack could have stayed out there ALL day (and night).

The Trackside Grill has at least 3 vintage passenger cars that you can dine in or around, we had the place pretty much to ourselves and the kids had a ball exploring. Many thanks to Aunt Megan for telling us about this place!

Finally the Zoo!

We received zoo membership as a gift this Christmas and we have been trying for months to find time to go. We stopped by the Pittsburgh zoo after the airshow for a quick visit.
Zack loved the map and telling us where to go.

Emily really liked the tiger!

These fish are so similar to Grandpa's but it was one of their favorite things.

This is in the monkey house, the glass is slanted and a monkey jumped over and sat on it so the kids had a nice view of his bottom.

We had such a nice time, I can't wait to visit the other zoos included in our membership!
